Migrate WebEOC Servers

The WebEOC database (default name wedb_7) contains all data within the system, including all boards, board data, users/passwords, positions, groups, group assignments, incidents, and all related data.

To migrate from one database server to another
  1. On your old SQL server, make a backup of the wedb_7 database. Once complete, move this backup file (.bak) over to your new SQL server.

  2. On the new SQL Server, restore the database from the backup

  3. On the WebEOC application server, run the WebEOC Configuration Tool and click on the Database tab

  4. Change the server name to that of the new server.

  5. Verify that the login information is still accurate for the new server.

To migrate from one application server to another
  1. On the old application server, run the WebEOC Configuration Tool and click the Security tab.

  2. In the Shared Keys section, click the Export Key File button.

  3. Save the file somewhere you can easily locate it.  Then, move the file to the new application server

  4. On the new server, install the same version of WebEOC that you have installed on the old application server.

  5. When asked to name the database during the install, check the box to use the existing database.

  6. After the WebEOC install is complete, install all the add-ons you use in WebEOC.

  7. On the new application server, go into the WebEOC configuration Tool and choose the Security tab.

  8. In the Shared Keys section, click the Import Key File button, and choose the file that was moved over from the old server.

To migrate from an old version of WebEOC on one application server to a newer version on another

First, upgrade the old server to the newer version. If the newer version has different software requirements than the older version (Windows OS or SQL Server Version are no longer supported by the newer version, for example), then update the other software first before updating the WebEOC version.

Note: If this migration is not possible due to hardware limitations, for example, install the older version of WebEOC on your new server using the steps above, and then upgrade to the new version.
