Edit Database Settings

The Database tab allows you to change how WebEOC connects to SQL Server® and specifies the database used.

Note: By default, the database settings were configured during the WebEOC installation procedure.

To edit the database settings
  1. From the WebEOC Configuration window, click the Database tab.

  2. In the Database Server section, for SQL Server, enter either the name or IP address of the SQL Server host.

Tip: The SQL Server field specifies the name of the SQL Server host to connect to. If the Web server is the same as the database server, then localhost may be specified.

  3. For Database Name, enter the name of the database WebEOC uses. By default, this is set to wedb_7.

Note: The database name must reference a valid WebEOC database in SQL Server. The Configuration Tool cannot be used to change the name of the database instance. If the name of the database needs to be changed, use the database management tools in SQL Server Management Studio.

  4. In the Database Authentication section, choose the applicable option to connect to the SQL Server.

Note: The two options available in the Database Authentication section specify how to log into the SQL Server. With either option, the account provided must have database owner privileges on the WebEOC database.
Windows NT authentication using the network login ID – This is the recommended setting. Verify the credentials specified for the Windows User Account in the Security tab are used to connect to SQL Server.
With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password – If this option is selected, enter the login ID and password with a valid SQL Server account for use by WebEOC.

  5. To verify the database settings, click Test Connection. A Connection tested successfully window opens if the connection was successfully opened with the SQL Server.

Tip: If the Could not connect to database advisory window opens, click OK, check the settings as indicated by the advisory, and then repeat the test.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Click Save.
