Write the Narrative

Use the Narrative section of the run record to compile a detailed account of the incident. You can either enter the narrative manually or use a template with prefilled narrative text and variables. Narrative templates are set up by your department, but you can modify the text and variables in a template if necessary.

The Clear button allows you to delete all of the narrative text and start over.

Enter a Narrative Manually

In Windows, to type the narrative directly in the Narrative Text field using the keyboard, tap the box to place the cursor inside it and then begin typing. If necessary, use the toolbar buttons to edit what you have written.

Regardless of the method you choose to input your narrative, you have the flexibility to change the font size used in your narrative. By default, the font size is set at 14 point. You can increase this size up to 20 point as necessary for ease of input and readability.

Enter a Narrative Using a Template

Using a template to compose your narrative can help you maintain consistency, ensure each key element is addressed, and speed up the overall composition process.

Important: When you select a template, any text you might have entered in the Narrative Text box is overwritten.

Templates may contain variables. When a variable has a value, TripTix automatically adds this value to the narrative text. If a field associated with the variable does not contain any information, the variable appears in square brackets: for example, [Patient Age].

Tip: If you update ePCR fields associated with variables after the template has been selected, you must re-select the template to make sure the narrative contains the most current patient information.
