Manage Protocols

From the Chief Complaint section, you can add, edit, and delete protocols to accurately report what treatment guidelines you followed to care for your patient. Indicating the protocols you followed helps reviewers identify why a treatment was initiated and/or what your working differential diagnosis was. Legally, adding protocols can also help defend your treatments per established guidelines and standards of care.

Add a Protocol

You can add as many protocols as needed, identifying all guidelines you followed to treat the patient.

To add a protocol in Windows
  1. In the side navigation of an open run record, tap Chief Complaint. The section expands to show the available subsections.

  2. Tap Protocols.

  3. Tap in the Protocols field and select the protocol you followed for this patient. If needed, begin typing the name of the protocol in the filter field to narrow the list of protocols and quickly find the protocol you followed.

  4. For Age Category, select the age category that applies to this patient.

  5. Tap Add. The protocol appears in the protocols table.
