Complete the Assessment Section

You can use the Assessment section to document the patient's condition throughout the run. The Assessment section consists of two subsections: Exam and Assessments. Required fields in this section may vary based on the rules set by your department.

To complete the Assessment section in Windows

Note: The Broselow Category is based on the patient's height and weight and is often only attributed to pediatric patients. See the Glossary for more information on the Broselow Category field.

  1. In the side navigation of an open run record, tap Assessment. The section expands to show the available subsections.

  2. In the Exam section, tap in the Possible Injury field and select the option that best indicates whether the patient likely suffered an injury from a traumatic event. If you select Yes, the Trauma section is added to the run record after the Sketch Pad section.

  3. Tap in the first field below the ALS Assessment Performed and Warranted heading and select the option that best indicates whether an ALS assessment was performed and warranted for this patient. If you select Yes, the ALS Assessment Performed window opens.

    • In the window, tap Crew Member and select the responder from the list that performed the ALS assessment.

    • Tap PIN/Password and enter the PIN of the crew member that performed the ALS assessment.

    • Tap CONFIRM.

  4. For Broselow Category, select the option that best describes the color category in which your patient falls.

  5. To verify all required fields are completed, check the record for errors.

To complete the Assessment section in Web
  1. In the side navigation of an open run record, click Assessment. The Exam subsection is displayed.

  2. In the Exam subsection, for Possible Injury, select the option that best indicates whether the patient likely suffered an injury from a traumatic event. If you select Yes, the Trauma section is added to the run record after the Sketch Pad section.

  3. For Broselow Category, select the option that best describes the color category in which your patient falls.

  4. For ALS Assessment Performed and Warranted, select the option that best indicates whether an ALS assessment was performed and warranted for this patient. If you select Yes, fields open to the right of the radio buttons.

    • For Crew Member, enter the name of the medic who performed the assessment.

    • For PIN/Password, enter the PIN of the crew member that performed the ALS assessment.

    • Click Edit. If valid, a Valid PIN Number message appears in green. If invalid, an Invalid PIN Number message appears in red. Reenter the credentials until the valid message is shown.

  5. To verify all required fields are completed, check the record for errors.
