This topic highlights and describes various aspects of navigation in your resource management application. This topic touches on features that are common to all or many of the pages within the application.

Read the sections of this topic to learn about the information and menu bars, the title bar and action buttons, and User Links. For information on the notification banner, refer to Notifications.

Information Bar

At the very top of the page are several navigation options you should be aware of. These are available in the information or title bar.

The following table describes each of the elements in this bar:

EMResource - Application switcher

If you have access to more than one Intermedix product, you can click EMResource on the far left side of this bar. A menu opens, showing the products you can access. Click a product. The default page for that application opens automatically (without requiring you to log in to that product).

Region access

The name of the region you are currently logged in to appears in the information bar. If you have access to multiple regions, click this name to select the region you want to view (Select Region page). Refer also to Change Regions.

The following links appear in the upper right corner of the page:

Opens the Intermedix Solutions for Health Care Enterprises site in a new tab or window. Use this site to learn about accreditation resources, best practices, and more.

Contact Us

Opens the Contact Us window, which lists your region's support contact for EMResource, as well as contact information for technical support.

Opens the comprehensive Help system in a new browser window.

Opens the Find Resources page, allowing you to quickly search for a specific resource or sub-resource.

Log Out

Logs you out of the application.

Intermedix logo

Opens the Intermedix website.

User Links

Provides ready access to one or more websites or forms. See the section below.

Menu Bar

The main navigation bar provides access to key tasks, such as viewing resources and updating your preferences.

You can quickly open your default view by clicking the home icon icon-home.png on the far left of the menu bar.

Note: The menu bar shows only those features and options that are appropriate to your user type/role in this region.

You can point at the header name, such as View or Event. A drop-down menu opens. Select an option to open that page. In the example above, the user is about to select Event Notification, which opens that user's event notification preferences page.

You can also click the header name (rather than an option in the menu) to view your options in another format. In the following example, the user clicked Preferences.

The Preferences Menu page opens. Click a link in the Menu Option column to access that option.

Title Bar and Action Buttons

The title bar appears just below the main navigation bar. This area shows the title of the page you are currently viewing, and provides access to page-related tasks you can perform (if any).

In this example, you are viewing the Regional Default view. You can refresh the page by clicking that link. The task buttons that are available depend on the content of the page as well as your access to application features. Other task buttons can include show map, customize, print, excel (export), and page-level help.

All EMResource views refresh themselves automatically every three minutes, including the map view. Any interaction with the application forces a refresh, including clicking the refresh button.

User Links

Your administration may have chosen to set up User Links. The links provide easy access to websites, EMResource forms, and/or the Manual IPN Entry page (used to enter an incoming patient notification).

These links can appear in one of two places:

  • The right side of the main navigation bar.

Point to User Links. A drop-down menu opens. Select one of the options. The website or EMResource form opens in a new browser window.

  • In the information bar, between the region name and the Contact Us link. When links appear in this area of the page, they are referred to as Quick Links.

Point to an icon. A tooltip opens, telling you the form or website that you can access via that link. Click the link. The form or website opens in a new window.
