Complete a Supervisor Review

When the Supervisor Review setting is turned on for a department, runs without errors that have been submitted for finalization by the record owner and have also passed Validation are automatically routed for supervisor review. After a supervisor reviews the run record, they can opt to have the medical director also review the run record if required.

To complete a supervisor review, follow the steps outlined below. Note that, although a standard form is included with the solution for use with supervisor review, the form you see may be customized. Department-specific forms can be created from Administration: QA/QI Forms.

To complete a Supervisor Review for a run record

Note: Record owners cannot review records they created, so the Review option is not listed in the menu for those records.

  1. From any page, go to Run Records: Pending Review. The Pending Review page opens, displaying all records waiting for review, sorted by review type.


  2. Go to the Supervisor Review section, click the Actions button associated with the record you want to open, and select Review.

  3. When the Pending Supervisor Review: [Run Record] page opens, in the upper left corner, arrange the view to your liking by using the View Options.

    • To display the PDF and QA forms in a top-versus-bottom fashion, click TTCDX_topandbottomview.png.

    • To display the PDF and QA forms side-by-side, click TTCDX_sidebysideview.png.

    • To open the PDF in a new browser tab, click .

  4. To download and examine added attachments, click the download button. This button is only visible if attachments are available.

  5. To view any previously completed reviews, directly to the right of the View Options buttons, click the Completed Reviews button.

  6. Using the review form specific to supervisor review, review the run record.

  7. If applicable, add a comment to the review by entering details in the Type comment... field and clicking Add Comment.


  8. If applicable, invite other users to participate in the review or resolve an error by clicking Invite to Comment and selecting the applicable users from the Invite to Comment window.


  9. When the review has been completed, take one of the following actions:


    If the report...


    Requires an addendum,

    1. Click Addendum Requested. The Addendum window opens.

    2. For Reason Addendum Requested, enter a description of the action required by the report owner.

    3. Click Save.

    An addendum request is created and the report owner is notified of the request via email. Upon completion of the addendum, the record returns to the Supervisor Review queue.

    Requires corrections,

    1. Click Corrections Requested. The Corrections window opens.

    2. For Corrections Required, enter a description of the edits required by the report owner.

    3. Click Save.

    The run record is sent to the Corrections queue and the report owner must log in to CDX to make the requested corrections. Upon completion of the corrections, the record returns to the Supervisor Review queue.

    Can be released for further reviews, Click Reviewed and Released.

    Can be finalized,

    Click Reviewed, QA and Released. The run record is finalized directly, regardless of whether any additional forms of review are enabled. These run records no longer appear on the Pending Review page.

    Requires escalation to the medical director,
    1. Click Assign to Medical Director for Review.
    2. From the table, select the individual for whom to assign the review.
    3. For Reason Required, enter the reason you are requesting the medical director to review this record.
    4. Click Save.

    An email is sent to the assigned medical director, indicating they have a run record to review. You will receive an email as soon as the medical director has completed the review.
