Question

What is NEMSIS Mode?

Answer

NEMSIS Mode is a NEMSIS 3-compliant offering that allows a department to document Not Values in an ePCR.

For example, a systemic assessment of the arm could indicate there was an abrasion, but it could also note that it was not bleeding. Documenting Not Values or pertinent negatives (NVPN) can direct treatment paths and give the report reviewer a better picture of what the patient was experiencing. Permission to document NVPNs can be turned on or off by a CDX administrator by going to Administration: System Settings: Other.

If enabled, some fields within the ePCR may show a Not symbol next to a field. Others may allow a pick list of various pertinent negative values to open, from which you can make selections.
